About Us

Our History

In 2002, a group of bright, determined and like-minded individuals set out to establish Xi Omicron Iota. In February 2002, the Student Government Association of Missouri State University approved Xi Omicron Iota's constitution, recognizing us as a Greek chapter on the Missouri State campus. The first recruitment was held March 2002, and had an overwhelming result. The first new-member class was composed of 22 women, ranging from freshmen to seniors.

Xi Omicron Iota was founded on the ideals of loyalty, sisterhood, and friendship. Our five founding mothers, Samantha Brown, Tracy Dailey, Brandei Harris, Helen Herschel, and LeAnn ODell, wanted the opportunity to offer the benefits of a sorority without live-in house requirements or the fees associated with a national office.

Our Social Sorority represents a group of diverse people who always strive for the highest level of excellence, as our founders intended. Shared goals and interests in areas of service, academics and building solid relationships hold our chapter together and define who are we.
